My English Course

On Tuesday 26 April 2016 my English lecture, Ms Defilia Ayuningtyas, invite us to the online discussion forum. She give an article entitled "How to Make the Perfect First Impression (According to Science)" (click here) After reading the article, we may post a comment about:

1. Do we have similar thought with a phrase "first impression is incredibly powerful"?

2. Which facts from the article we may experience or agree with?

We are also required to respond to a comment from our classmate related to his/her argument toward this article.

So, This is my opinion:

When we meet someone at the first time, it can't be doubted that in our head we just imagine what kind of people this person is. By looking his/her appearance, gesture, or language style we may directly concludes many things such as, attractiveness, likeability, trustworthiness, competence, aggressiveness, friendliness, profession, or financial background. So, I have the similar though with phrase 'first impression is incredibly powerful'. But I'm agree to with phrase "Don't judge a book by it's cover". It's not good if we judge people by first impression only because first impression may be wrong too. Second meeting or third meeting could change what our first impression for that person. So judge wisely and understand people more is what you could do for assessing impression.

I'm agreed with fact 'To make a good first impression, do it in person', because when we want to impress someone it couldn't only by our photo, voice, or face. We need to feel the eye contact, build a warm situation and make a good gesture in real with the person we want to impress. Face to face is the best way to impress someone.

If you're interested with the topic, you could share your opinion in the box bellow. Thank you.
